2017 IPL 6th Match Highlights: Sunrisers Hyderabad VS. Gujarat Lions

IPL has always been about breaking the streaks and stereotypes. Such a nail-biting match was played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Lions. The match was played on the home ground of Sunrisers Hyderabad, i.e. Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad on 9th April at 16:00 as per IST. As it was the home ground of Sunrisers Hyderabad, they had an extra advantage. Sunrisers won the toss and elected to field. Hyderabad carried on with their winning streak and managed to easily win this match by 9 wickets. Sunrisers continue to rule on the top spot with a net run rate of +2.100.

A One-Sided Show

It can be well understood that this match was one-sided as Sunrisers easily won the match and that too by 9 wickets. As Gujarat Lions were the first to bat, they struggled throughout the innings and somehow managed to score 135 runs at a fall of 7 wickets. Dwayne Smith was the one who scored the highest, i.e. 37 runs at 27 balls. Star players like Brendon McCullum, Aaron Finch, and Suresh Raina failed terribly. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad did an outstanding job, right from the batsmen to the bowlers. Sunrisers’ bowler Rashid Khan did an amazing job taking 3 wickets at an economy of 4.75. Team captain David Warner did a remarkable job, scoring 76 runs at a strike rate of 168.89. Supporting Warner, Moises Henriques scored 52 runs. Dhawan, however, failed to perform and score 9 runs only. With a loss of just a single wicket, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the match in 15.3 overs.

Gujarat Lions Failed Terribly

It is indeed quite sad to see a strong team like Gujarat Lions fail terribly in the current season of the Indian Premier League. Lions were placed on the top spot on the Points Table of the 2016 IPL but this time they have been constantly dwindling and lost both of its matches. Currently, Gujarat Lions are at the bottommost position with a net run rate of -2.731. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad is at the top spot winning all of its matches so far.
