The 2017 Stanley Cup Finals has finally concluded. The much awaited series started with a bang on 29th May. The championship series was the consummation of the 2016-17 Stanley Cup Playoffs. It was for the very first time in the history of National Hockey League (NHL) that the Nashville Predators made its entry into the finals. On the other hand, it was for the second consecutive time that the Pittsburgh Penguins, who were the Eastern Conference Playoff Champion, made it through to the finals. One of the best Stanley Cup Finals so far, both Predators and Penguins gave each other quite a tough time. The Penguins had better season records, which gave them a home ice advantage. Until the 5th game, Pittsburgh Penguins were leading the series with 3-2. Hopes were high for Nashville Predators. But crushing it all, Pittsburgh Penguins won the championship series for the second consecutive year by leading the series 4-2. Nashville Predators’ fans were left in much disappointment as the team could not beat the defending champions in the 2017 Stanley Cup Finals. Well, it was Predators’ first entry into the Finals and expecting way too much was not justified. Speaking about the matches played in the series, the Penguins started with victory in the 1st match beating Predators 5-3. Kindred to this happened in the 2nd match as Penguins won 4-1. But, in the 3rd match Predators made a comeback and defeated Penguins 5-1 and did the same in the 4th match winning 4-1. But, the defending champion banged the Predators in the 5th and the 6th match winning 6-0 and 2-0 respectively. Hence, the Penguins won the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

In the history of NHL, it was for the very first time that a team has won back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals. It was for the second time that Penguins made their entry into the Stanley Cup Finals. The team defeated Nashville Predators 2-0 in the 6th game clinching the winning title. Talking about the Conn Smythe Trophy, Sidney Crosby- the captain of Pittsburgh Penguins was awarded his 2nd consecutive title of the most valuable player of the playoffs.
